TCRSF Fair Day Schedule

Suggested packing checklist for competing at the regional science fair – PDF of Packing Checklist

Parking (teachers, parents, students):

Van and carpooling is highly recommended for the TCRSF days at the U of M. Parking is limited and expensive. The UofM suggests that you have several dollars in quarters with you if you plan to park at metered parking. However, the meters on Pillsbury next to the Field House are UNAVAILABLE during TCRSF. Direction for Unloading and Loading Projects:

The Field House is located at 1800 University Avenue SE on the U of M campus, however, that is a one-way street and does not allow for any parking to unload or load projects. To find the loading and unloading area:

1:00 p.m.-3:45 p.m. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. Project Registration Check In
1:00 p.m.-3:45 p.m. Display & Safety inspection All exhibits must be cleared before competition
12 or 1 p.m.-9 p.m. Concessions available - bring small bills! for students & adults Food in concessions area or bleachers only – No food in exhibit area
after 3:00 p.m. Judges Arrival Judge Check In - Assignments recommended 3:30 p.m.
3:15 p.m. Recommended completion time for all students, including clearing Display and Safety
3:50 p.m. All students at project exhibits. All teachers and parents leave the exhibit area.
4:00 p.m. Judging Start Time for all students grades 6-12
6:30 p.m. Estimated dismissal time Grade 6

The schedule for Saturday Date

8:00-8:45 a.m. Volunteers set up ribbon packets for students at Registration area
8:00-10:00 a.m. Projects Open For Public Viewing
9:00 a.m. Students pick up envelopes with ribbons (both projects & research papers)
10:00 a.m.-12:20 p.m. Awards Ceremony for HS & MS Project and Research Papers -- PROJECTS MUST STAY UP UNTIL AFTER THE AWARDS ARE COMPLETED!!! NOTE: TCRSF requires that all Sponsors Award winners & ISEF winners must be at the Saturday Award Ceremony or an alternate project will be named the winner of that award.
Immediately following awards

12:20 p.m.-12:30 p.m.
Very short meeting for students & alternates advancing to ISEF competition - REQUIRED (The time & location will be given for a mandatory meeting for all students and adults interested in attending ISEF. The meeting is usually set for the next day on Sunday afternoon.)

Students advancing to state competition will receive state registration information with their purple ribbon. No state meeting required this year for students advancing to state. THIS YEAR YOU HAVE ONLY FIVE (5) DAYS to register for state! You must decide quickly. If you are NOT able to compete at state, please get ahold of us IMMEDIATELY so an alternate may advance - call 763-577-1400 with your name, grade, school & that you cannot attend state or send an email to fairdirector@tcrsf.org with the same information: first and last name, grade, school, and that you cannot compete. If you have questions about state, please call!!!
Following awards ceremony Project Tear Down Everyone is responsible for tearing down their own exhibit and restacking tables and chairs and picking up the floor protection wooden blocks.) Remember: we are ALL volunteers, and your help is critical!
12:30 p.m.-??? Volunteers loading trucks & final cleanup of show flow (YES, we NEED your help!!!)

The schedule for Sunday Date

All ISEF winners and all persons interested in traveling with the group to ISEF MUST attend the Sunday ISEF meeting location and time to be announced (usually 1:00 p.m.). (This meeting is only for ISEF winners, ISEF alternates, their teachers/mentors/and family members, & chaperones -- anyone traveling to ISEF with team Twin Cities.)
